Closed 16 Mar 2023

Opened 23 Feb 2023

Overview

We're investing to refresh the play area at Laurieston Public Park. Last year we asked your views about how we could best improve it and we used your feedback to inform a design brief.

We asked - What equipment would you like to see? the top 5 chosen were:

  1. Swings 64%
  2. Slide 57%
  3. Climbing Frame
  4. Zip Line 37%
  5. Trim Trail 19%

Thanks to your responses all submitted designs contain some of this equipment as well as some sensory and inclusive equipment.

We asked - What age group the play area should cater for?

  • Age 0 – 4 80%
  • Age 5 – 12 97%
  • Age 13 – 17 40%

The designs received are predominantly for ages 0 – 12 years but have a few pieces of equipment suitable for teens.

We asked - Would you like more benches or a picnic table?

90% said YES.

All designs include 2 new benches and a picnic table.

We asked - Should the play area should be fenced in?

74% said YES so the main play area is fully enclosed with just the zip line outside this area on all designs.

Three play companies have now submitted designs and we'd like to hear which one you like the best.
