Tell Us About Your Place – Falkirk Local Development Plan 3

Closes 30 Jun 2023

Opened 27 Feb 2023

Falkirk Council is starting the process of preparing a new Local Development Plan (LDP3) which will guide growth and change in our communities for years to come. It will indicate where new development should or should not take place, what infrastructure is need to support growth, and how our environment and greenspace can be improved.

The first stage in the process is to gather information about the area which will help us prepare an Evidence Report on which to base the new plan. To help us with this, we’re asking people who live or work in the area to complete this survey to tell us about their places and how they function. What is good about them, and what could be improved?

The survey is based on Public Health Scotland's Place Standard Tool. This is a really good way to think about the physical aspects of a place (for example its buildings, spaces and transport links) as well as the social aspects (such as how safe does the place feel). Click on the video below to find out more about the Place Standard Tool.

The survey asks you to rate your chosen place against fourteen themes using a scale of 1 to 7. Survey results will be plotted by place on a diagram (like the one below). The points close to centre of the circle highlight themes in the place that are in need of improvement while the points towards the edge show themes where the place is doing well.

The diagram is a circle where the ratings (1 to 7) for each of the fourteen themes are plotted. Points close to the centre show themes that the place is in need of improvement. Points towards the edge show themes that the place is performing well.

Paper copies of the survey can be collected from, and returned to, any of the Council’s libraries or advice and support hubs. You can request the survey in alternative formats (such as large print or Braille) and in different languages by emailing or telephoning 01324 504950.

We will review all responses to the survey and publish a consultation feedback report in Autumn 2023 analysing the responses received.

More information on the LDP3 process and programme, together with details of how and when we will engage with the public and other stakeholders may be found in our Development Plan Scheme. If you want to keep up to date with the progress of the plan and opportunities to be involved, subscribe to our Development Plan Update, keep an eye on our web page or follow us on Facebook

Why your views matter

Your views are important, helping us gather the evidence to understand the issues and aspirations for the future development and use of land in your community and across the Falkirk Council area.

It should take about 20 minutes to complete the survey, but you can save and then come back to a question at another time.
